TAR DevLog #8 - Minor Patch, Crowdfunding & Diversification Sneak Peek

Hello fellow Rebels.

We are here to tell you that we are well and working. We've been silent for a bit, but it was due to the project shifting gears!

First things first - we've released a hotfix today addressing some issues that were reported by players or bumped into by the team. By request, we've added a Game Over when things really go bad.
We thank everyone that provided us with feedback and reports of all kinds - it helps us shape up the game!
You can find the changelog at the end of this entry.

Secondly, we're working on our Crowdfunding Campaign. We've alluded to in our previous devlog.
This means our previous plans of a rough roadmap of the game look rather different now, as our priorities had to be shifted.

Feature Showcases

Our plan is to fully commit to launching the Campaign, with the team working on feature showcases that will be shown in the Campaign Trailer and page. Those showcases are quick, basic displays - or prototypes - of features (or groups of features) that we would really like to have in the game in a finished form.
In a way, the showcases will visually and clearly display our Roadmap and goals -  we're hoping this will aid in the decision to back our project, rather than simply mentioning things or talking about it.

That said, today we'd like to show you a sneak peek of a sneak peek of the showcase we've been calling Pawn Diversification:

We started with a single pawn, and now we are sitting well over 10 million potential variations for little rebels in this prototype version of the feature!

There's yet more to this showcase, such as the Stylizer device that would allow you to customize your Rebels' look and colors. With that, we are hoping to allow players to quickly customize their pawns if they feel like doing so.
Imagine confusing your enemies by building an army of angry browncoat rebels... no wait, forget I said that!!

Future Showcases

In the next showcases, we also intend to work on and display more things that can make each Pawn unique and interesting - such as through the Health Model and Skills System.
For now, some of us are working on the Social, Recreation and Relationships showcase, which is nearly complete, and some are working on the Weather System & Visual Effects showcase, where we display potential looks & feels for the things such as Weather (rain, fog, wind), Lighting (sun light, artificial lights, shadows), Particle Effects for different impacts and interactions, and more.

The overall feel is that we are making drafts of potential future updates. It still is a lot of work, but hopefully by the end of it we'll have a cool looking trailer and project page to show what we hope to achieve we the help of our backers and supporters.
Not only that, the research and work that go into the making of a showcase really helps us align our vision and take important design decisions, and should work as good foundations and starting points for further development of the game.

It's hard to say for sure how long this Crowdfunding prep phase will last, given the large variety and amount of work still left to do. We're estimating it will take at least 2 months.

Thank you for keeping up for the project! We are are grateful for all the support and positivity sent our way.
Have a great time, and stay safe!
